In an election year, it's almost inevitable that breakroom talks (whether in-person or virtual) turn political, you cannot prohibit employees from discussing politics as it would infringe upon their right to free speech. However, some states have their own rules about the right to free speech in the workplace and have made various attempts to regulate what can be discussed and under what circumstances.
